She started out as an Animation Designer and Art Director but is now pursuing her love for metalwork. Her jewelry making career started back in 2004 when she quit her job and opened the LaNinja store in Kungsholmen, Stockholm.

Her work has since traveled all over the world and sold in independent stores from Lyon to Pittsburgh. The LaNinja store was also featured in many travel guides and books such as The Lonely Planet.
WILD & ARROW
Wild & Arrow is a ethical and eco conscious jewelry brand based in Stockholm, designed by Miia Turunen, all pieces are made in the studio in Stockholm, Sweden. Sometimes with a little help from other local casters and goldsmiths. The Wild & Arrow jewelry are classical yet modern pieces that will last for a lifetime.
The designs are created from a passion for combining and experimenting with ancient goldsmithing techniques and cutting edge modern tools.
She draws her main inspiration from a creative vagabond lifestyle and the dark covered winter nights in Sweden and Finland. The design reflects her Nordic legacy and are characterized by a simple but strong minimalistic expression with a mysterious and dark feeling.
Miia loves to work with unexpected results from using tools in a way they were not supposed to be used. A lot of sketches start with computers and the prototypes are hand formed in wax or metal. Then finally the pieces are soldered and filed by hand. The Uusimaa collection is inspired by and cast with the modern ways of using the ancient lost wax casting technique.
Committed to sustainability Miia carefully source materials from small companies with a main focus on worker friendly, non toxic production, cruelty free and vegan. Many items are made from vintage or repurposed materials. Any manufacturing done outside of Sweden is carefully considered for their social and environmental responsibility.
