Selma Bridge Cuff Bracelet Brass

820 kr

Adjustable

Unisex Bracelet by Betsy & Iya.
Created as a tribute to an iconic moment of peaceful resistance, we hope this cuff continues to inspire and motivate.

The marches on this bridge have played a crucial role in the civil rights movement. Less than five months after the final march, President Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (the act that prohibits racial discrimination in voting) into law.

Modeled after the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, with Roman numerals representing the year 1940 engraved on the inside.

Made by Betsy & Iya in their studio in Portland, Usa.

Materials: Raw brass
Measures 1.5" at widest. Adjustable (fits most adult wrists).

Betsy & Iya

betsy & iya® started in 2008 in a coffeeshop with a notebook, a bright red pencil, and nothing to lose.  Among scribbles and coffee stains, the words “jewelry making” appeared in that notebook.

Betsy wrote it down, thought about it for a while, and then she made some jewelry. And it worked, so she did it some more.

Today, they are more than just jewelry.  They are a brick and mortar shop snuggled down in Portland, OR.  It is where they design and make it all.

Constantly learning, building, growing.  Goofballs who can still work 80+ hour weeks, but know when to take a deep breath.  Design is important, but so are quiet Sunday mornings, roller coasters, and new music. "We’d love to live in a house from Dwell magazine, but we don’t.  And if we did, you might find a stray sock in the hallway or a *temporary* stack of dishes in the sink.  We’re people, just like you.  We love what we do.  And we put ourselves into our designs, into our business, into how we say hi when you walk through our door."
